Why it's on GiftsFeed
Three-layer ski bib for backcountry touring and resort laps
Most waterproof ski pants trap sweat the moment you start moving uphill, and most breathable softshells soak through in wet snow. This bib splits the difference by putting GORE-TEX Pro where weather hits and a stretchy, breathable panel where your core generates heat. The result works for both the slog up and the descent, without forcing you to choose between staying dry and staying comfortable. If you tour regularly or push hard enough at the resort that vents matter, the panel design and thigh zips make a real difference.
Good gift when
- Backcountry skiers logging big vertical days
- Riders who switch between resort laps and touring
- Anyone who needs a shell that breathes as hard as it protects
- Skiers who prefer bib coverage and drop-seat function
Skip it if If you run cold and want insulation built in, you'll need to layer underneath—this is a shell-only design meant for high output.

The details
When you're skinning uphill for hours and then skiing back down, outerwear needs to do two opposing things: shed weather completely and breathe hard enough to keep you from cooking inside. This bib combines a three-layer GORE-TEX Pro membrane with a softshell bib panel that stretches and vents, so you stay dry from both directions.
The main fabric is fully seam-sealed and uses an ePE construction that skips PFAS while maintaining long-term waterproof performance. Outer thigh vents unzip when you're moving fast or the sun comes out, and the fabric at the knees is articulated with an action gusset to match the way your legs actually bend under a touring stride or deep carve.
Abrasion-resistant patches at the leg openings take the scrape from boot cuffs and ski edges. Suspenders adjust to your torso, and the drop-seat design opens for bathroom breaks without shedding layers or unpacking your harness. Zippered chest pockets and thigh pockets keep skins, snacks, and a phone close. Available in sizes small through double XL with a regular inseam.

Questions
- Is this insulated or just a shell?
- This is a shell-only bib with no built-in insulation. It's designed for high-output activities like backcountry touring where you generate a lot of heat. Layer underneath with base layers or mid-layers depending on temperature and activity level.
- How does the drop-seat function work?
- The drop-seat design allows you to open the back panel without removing the bib or unclipping from suspenders or a harness. This makes bathroom breaks much faster and easier, especially when you're wearing layers or a pack.
- What does the softshell bib panel do?
- The softshell panel at the bib stretches for mobility and breathes more than a fully waterproof membrane, which helps manage moisture and heat when you're working hard on an ascent. The rest of the bib uses GORE-TEX Pro for full weather protection where you need it most.
- Are the outer thigh vents easy to reach with a pack on?
- Yes, the outer thigh vents are positioned on the sides of the legs and are accessible even when wearing a ski pack or harness. They're designed to dump heat quickly during climbs or when temperatures rise.
- What is GORE-TEX Pro ePE?
- GORE-TEX Pro ePE uses an expanded polyethylene membrane instead of traditional ePTFE. It delivers the same waterproof and breathable performance as classic GORE-TEX Pro but is manufactured without PFAS chemicals, making it a more environmentally responsible option.
- Do the kick patches protect against ski edges and boot wear?
- Yes, the abrasion-resistant kick patches at the leg openings are reinforced to handle contact from boot cuffs, ski edges, and crampons. They extend the life of the bib in high-wear areas.
