Review policy

Reviews on GiftsFeed come from two places, they are labelled differently, and only one of them counts toward a rating.

Verified purchases

When an order is attributed to GiftsFeed, we can email that buyer and ask what they thought. Those reviews are marked as verified purchases, and they are the only reviews that feed the star rating on a product page or the rating in our structured data.

Reviews from the merchant's own store

Some merchants authorize us to display the reviews left on their own store. We show those with clear attribution and a link to the source, and we never roll them into our own rating.

This is a deliberate line. Presenting someone else's reviews as our aggregate rating would misrepresent both them and us, and search engines treat it as exactly that. We would rather show a product with no rating than a rating we did not earn.

What we never do

We do not scrape reviews. We do not buy reviews, incentivize positive ones, or filter negative ones. We do not write reviews ourselves, and our product descriptions are not reviews: they are written from published specifications and do not claim hands-on testing.

Removing a review

We remove reviews that contain personal information, abuse, or content unrelated to the product. A merchant can flag a review for those reasons, and cannot have one removed for being unfavorable.
