Donguri Lamp

This floor lamp uses traditional Mino washi paper stretched over a slender frame to create soft, diffused illumination. The rounded shade filters light into a warm glow without harsh edges or bright spots, making it well-suited for spaces where you want ambient light rather than task lighting.

Asano Shoten crafts each shade from Mino washi, a handmade paper known for its fine texture and translucency. The paper diffuses bulb light evenly across the surface, so the entire shade glows rather than concentrating brightness in one area. The frame remains minimal, keeping visual weight low while supporting the shade's structure.

At just over nineteen inches tall and twelve inches wide, the lamp fits comfortably in corners, beside seating, or next to a bed without dominating floor space. The lightweight construction makes it easy to move and reposition as needed. Assembly is straightforward, requiring no specialized tools or complex steps.

The combination of washi paper and a simple frame produces light that feels softer and warmer than typical fabric or plastic shades. It works well in rooms where you want to reduce glare from overhead lighting or create a gentler evening atmosphere. The lamp provides enough light to navigate a room comfortably but won't overpower other light sources or create strong shadows.
