Why it's on GiftsFeed

Seven washable cotton pads that replace nearly two thousand disposable rounds

Most reusable pads are either too plush and hold onto product, or too thin and fall apart after a few washes. These use a specific cotton-lyocell blend that mimics the texture and absorption of disposable rounds while surviving hundreds of washes at proper sanitizing temperatures. The difference matters if you actually want to stop buying cotton rounds, not just feel better about it. This is for people who are already comfortable washing dish towels and cloth napkins, and who would rather add seven small pads to their laundry routine than keep a stockpile of disposables under the sink.

Good gift when

  • People who go through disposable cotton rounds daily
  • Anyone looking to reduce single-use bathroom waste
  • Those who already machine-wash cloth towels and napkins
  • Minimalists who prefer buying once instead of restocking

Skip it if You use oil-based makeup removers that require hotter washes or harsher detergents, you do not want to manage laundry for skincare tools, or you prefer the sterility of fresh disposables every time.

The maker

LastObject launched LastRound on Kickstarter in 2020, backed by thousands of people who wanted an alternative to disposable cotton rounds that would actually survive daily use. The design came out of Copenhagen with a focus on making reusable versions of throwaway bathroom staples that people go through by the hundreds each year. The cotton-lyocell blend was chosen specifically to match the texture and absorption of disposable rounds while being durable enough to withstand hundreds of washes at sanitizing temperatures. Each set is packaged in FSC-certified cardboard and includes a mesh laundry bag so the pads stay together in the wash.

The details

These are reusable cotton pads designed to do what disposable rounds do—remove makeup, apply toner, wipe micellar water—without the daily waste. You get seven pads in a set, each about the same diameter as a standard cotton round, made from a blend that is thirty percent cotton and seventy percent lyocell, a fiber derived from wood pulp. The combination gives you a soft surface with enough texture to lift product, while being more durable and faster drying than traditional cotton.

Each pad is rated for around 250 wash cycles when laundered at up to 60°C, the temperature that kills common bacteria and viruses on fabric. A mesh laundry bag is included so the pads stay together in the machine. Over its lifetime, one set replaces approximately 1,750 single-use rounds. The pads contain no synthetic dyes or chemical treatments and are home compostable once they have reached the end of their usable life.

These work with water-based skincare products: micellar water, toner, makeup remover, serums, and exfoliants. They do not work with fabric softener, which coats the fibers and reduces their ability to absorb. After use, rinse the pad if needed, toss it in the mesh bag, and run it through your regular laundry. The pads dry quickly between washes, so seven is usually enough to rotate through a week before doing laundry. The packaging is FSC-certified cardboard.

Questions

How do I wash these pads?
Place them in the included mesh bag and machine wash with your regular laundry at up to 60°C. Do not use fabric softener, as it coats the fibers and reduces absorption. The pads dry quickly after washing.
Can I use these with oil-based makeup removers?
These pads are designed for water-based skincare products like micellar water, toner, and makeup remover. Oil-based products may require hotter washes or harsher detergents than the pads are rated for.
How many pads do I need for a week?
The set includes seven pads, which is typically enough to rotate through a week of daily use before washing. If you use multiple pads per day or wash laundry less frequently, you may need a second set.
What happens when the pads wear out?
Each pad is rated for approximately 250 wash cycles. When they are no longer usable, they are home compostable because they contain no synthetic dyes or chemical treatments.
Do these feel like disposable cotton rounds?
They have a similar diameter and a soft, slightly textured surface comparable to traditional cotton rounds. The blend of cotton and lyocell gives them enough texture to lift product while being more durable than disposables.
