Schoolhouse

Schoolhouse started in 2003 after discovering vintage lighting molds in an old upstate New York factory. That find led them to reimagine traditional forms using those original tools, turning out hand-finished sconces, drawer pulls, and utility hooks informed by classic American design. In 2026 the company was acquired by Hudson Valley Lighting Group, though the design approach remains unchanged.

The line spans lighting fixtures, hardware, textiles, and furniture, with eighty percent of it made domestically. They recycle metal scraps and excess glass at local facilities, use FSC-certified wood, and source Oeko-Tex Standard certified fabrics. Their seconds are distributed rather than discarded, and they consolidate shipments to reduce freight emissions.
