NEMO Equipment

Cam Brensinger founded NEMO Equipment in 2002 after a sleepless night on Mount Washington in a poorly designed bivy convinced him that outdoor gear needed better design. He launched the company that spring during his senior year at the Rhode Island School of Design, opening the first office in Nashua, New Hampshire three days after graduation. Working in a restored textile mill, he spent two years developing airbeam-supported tent prototypes before debuting the brand publicly in 2004.

The company is now based in Dover, New Hampshire. Their backpacking tents use a proprietary fabric called OSMO made from recycled yarns without PFAS chemicals. They produced the first bluesign-certified sleeping pad on the market and began selling only Responsible Down Standard certified sleeping bags in 2017. The Endless Promise Collection focuses on fully recyclable products, and they have been upcycling manufacturing rejects into their Ditto line since 2006.
