Why it's on GiftsFeed

Small Fixed Blade EDC Knife Machined in Chattanooga

Most pocket knives fold because that's the only way to make them small enough to carry. But hinges wear, locks fail, and pivots collect grit. A fixed blade has none of those problems—it's just steel and handle—but it's traditionally too big to slip into a pocket without a bulky sheath riding on your belt.

This one fits in a pocket because it's sized like a folder but built like a fixed blade. The two Kydex sheaths let you set it up for either hand, and the titanium clip holds it exactly like a clipped folder would. You get the simplicity and strength of a fixed blade in a package you'll actually carry every day, not just when you're headed into the woods.

Good gift when

  • Daily carry enthusiasts who prefer fixed blades to folders
  • People who want a small backup blade that rides in a pocket
  • Anyone who values edge retention and low-maintenance steel
  • Buyers looking for American-made knives with premium materials

Skip it if This is a dedicated carry knife for people who will use it daily. If you want something for occasional outdoor trips or display, or if you need a larger blade for heavy cutting tasks, a bigger fixed blade or a traditional folder will serve you better.

The details

This is a pocket-sized fixed blade built for everyday carry by people who want the reliability of a fixed blade without the bulk. At 6.2 inches overall with a 2.2-inch blade, it rides in a pocket as easily as a folding knife but with none of the moving parts to fail.

The blade is Magnacut steel hardened to 63-64 HRC, a modern alloy developed for edge retention and corrosion resistance in hard use. It comes sharpened to a 25-degree angle and measures 3mm thick at the spine, which strikes a balance between strength and the light weight required for comfortable pocket carry.

You choose from three blade profiles—tanto, clip point, or drop point—and handle materials that include titanium, black G10, natural micarta, ultem, walnut-laminate DymaLux, or green micarta. All hardware is titanium, and the rear handle screw is drilled through for lanyard attachment.

Two Kydex sheaths are included, one configured for left-pocket carry and one for right. A single titanium pocket clip moves between them, so you carry it clipped inside whichever pocket suits your draw hand. The sheaths hold securely and release cleanly without retention screws to adjust or straps to thread.

Each knife is machined in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and designed in collaboration with an ABS Journeyman Smith who works in the shop. The result is a fixed blade small enough to carry daily but built to the standards of a working tool.

Questions

Can I carry this in my pocket like a folding knife?
Yes. It ships with two Kydex sheaths designed specifically for pocket carry, one set up for left-hand draw and one for right. You attach the included titanium clip to whichever sheath matches your preference, and it rides clipped inside your pocket just like a folder would.
What is Magnacut steel and why is it used here?
Magnacut is a modern powder-metallurgy steel engineered for both edge retention and stainless corrosion resistance, two qualities that traditionally trade off against each other. Hardened to 63-64 HRC in this knife, it holds a sharp edge through extended cutting tasks and resists rust without the maintenance traditional carbon steels require.
How do I choose between the blade shapes?
The drop point is the most versatile for general cutting and slicing. The clip point offers a finer tip for detail work. The tanto provides a reinforced tip geometry that's stronger for piercing and prying tasks. All three use the same steel and dimensions.
What are the differences between the handle materials?
Titanium is the lightest and most corrosion-proof but can feel slick when wet. G10 and micarta offer textured grip and durability in all conditions. Ultem is a translucent amber resin that's lightweight and chemical-resistant. DymaLux is a laminated wood composite with natural grain and warmth. All are secured with titanium hardware.
Is this legal to carry where I live?
Knife laws vary widely by location. Many jurisdictions regulate blade length, concealed carry of fixed blades, or both. Check your local and state laws before carrying any fixed blade knife, even a small one designed for pocket carry.
Can I attach a lanyard to this knife?
Yes. The rear handle screw is drilled through to accept a lanyard or retention cord. This keeps the knife secure during active use or provides an additional way to retrieve it from a pocket or pack.
