Limited-Edition Folding Knife with M390 Blade and Multi-Color Carbon Handle
Most folding knives give you one way to open them, and most limited editions are just standard models with a serial number stamped on. This one combines four distinct deployment methods with a handle material that actually changes appearance as you turn it. The Vanchor Lock is Vosteed's own design, not a licensed mechanism, and the numbered run includes designer documentation and an engraved liner, not just a certificate in the box. If you want a folder that works four ways and looks different every time you pull it out, or if you collect numbered pieces with real material depth, this delivers both.
Good gift when
- Collectors who want a numbered knife with documentation
- People who appreciate materials that change appearance with light
- Anyone who likes having multiple ways to open a folder
- Knife users who prioritize edge retention and corrosion resistance
Skip it if This is a limited run of 250 numbered pieces, so once they sell out, you cannot get another. The multi-color carbon handle is bold and will draw attention, which may not suit everyone.

The details
The Thunderbird V is a folding knife built around a 3.46-inch M390 blade and a handle made from layered carbon fiber that shifts between yellow, violet, blue, and darker tones as you turn it. Each of the 250 pieces is numbered, laser-engraved, and comes with a signed certificate from the designer.
The blade uses a compound grind that keeps the tip strong while letting the belly slice cleanly. M390 steel holds an edge well, resists rust, and takes abuse without chipping. The finish is neutral satin and bead-blast, so the handle colors stay the focus.
The handle material is called Ultimate Warrior CamoCarbon, and because the layered pattern is cut from different sections, no two knives look identical. Light and angle change which colors dominate, so the same knife can look mostly blue in one moment and violet-gold in another.
You can open this knife four ways: front flipper, rear flipper, thumb hole, or by holding the Vanchor Lock button and flicking the blade. The lock itself is Vosteed's proprietary design, engineered for secure engagement and smooth release. A titanium pocket clip sits on the handle, and the titanium backspacer extends slightly to form a lanyard loop. Morse code for "V" is etched into the backspacer.
This is a collector's edition. You get the numbered knife, a fourth-anniversary coin, and an ID card signed by designer Yue. The liner is engraved with both the Thunderbird name and the anniversary mark. If you want a user knife with multiple deployment options and standout materials, this works. If you want a limited piece with documentation and a serial number, it works for that too.

Questions
- What makes M390 steel a good choice for a knife blade?
- M390 is a high-performance stainless steel that holds an edge well, resists corrosion, and maintains toughness under use. It is harder to sharpen than softer steels, but the tradeoff is longer intervals between sharpening and better performance in wet or humid conditions.
- How does the multi-color carbon handle work?
- The handle is made from layered carbon fiber with yellow, violet, blue, and dark tones embedded in the material. Different colors become more visible depending on the light and the angle you view it from. Because each section of material is cut differently, no two knives have the same pattern.
- Can I choose which deployment method to use?
- Yes. The Thunderbird V has a front flipper, rear flipper, thumb hole, and the option to hold the lock button while flicking the blade open. You can use whichever method feels most natural for your grip and situation.
- What does the Vanchor Lock do?
- The Vanchor Lock is Vosteed's proprietary locking mechanism. It secures the blade when open and releases smoothly when you press the lock button. The design is engineered for reliable engagement and easy one-handed closing.
- Is this knife numbered and serialized?
- Yes. Each of the 250 pieces is numbered from 001 to 250. The Thunderbird name and fourth-anniversary mark are laser-engraved on the liner, and the knife comes with a signed ID card from the designer.
