The Straight Jean in Rinsed Organic Selvedge

This is a straight-cut jean made from fourteen-ounce organic cotton selvedge denim, dyed with indigo that develops character as you wear and wash it. The fabric starts uniform and gradually shows wear patterns unique to how you move, sit, and fold the material. It's the kind of denim that rewards patience.

The construction follows traditional workwear methods: five pockets with selvedge detail visible at the coin pocket, a button fly, and a leather patch at the waistband. The pocket bags use six-ounce organic cotton printed with a San Francisco map motif, a detail you'll see only when you turn the pockets inside out.

Because the indigo sits on the surface of the yarn rather than penetrating all the way through, friction and washing expose lighter core threads over time. High-wear zones—knees, thighs, rear pockets—will lighten faster than areas that see less stress. The process is slow and uneven, which is the point. After a year of regular use, you'll have a pair that looks nothing like it did new.

The straight leg means the width from knee to hem stays consistent, without the taper common in modern fits. If you're used to slim or skinny cuts, this will feel looser below the knee. The rise is mid, not low, so the waistband sits where jeans traditionally did before stretch denim became standard.

Fourteen-ounce denim is substantial but not rigid. It will take a few wears to break in, especially around the waistband and behind the knees. You can machine wash this in cold water and tumble dry on low, though air drying will slow the fading if you want to preserve the darker indigo longer.
