Party game where matching the crowd wins you the round
Most party games reward the funniest answer or the most creative spin. This one flips that: you win by being boring, by thinking exactly like everyone else. That inversion makes it work for groups where not everyone wants to perform or compete on wit. The questions are simple enough that anyone can answer, but predicting whether the table will say "Thriller" or "Bohemian Rhapsody" turns into a read of the room rather than a trivia flex.
The Moosic and Moovies edition is worth it if your group already spends half the night talking about albums and films. The narrower question set means more moments where everyone has an opinion, fewer blanks, and better post-round arguments about why "Star Wars" is technically the wrong title.
Good gift when
- Groups who argue about movies and music anyway
- People who prefer fast party games to strategy
- Anyone who enjoys guessing what others will say
- Households that host game nights regularly
Skip it if Your group has wildly different tastes in music and movies, or someone at the table has little interest in either topic—they'll spend the game guessing blind while everyone else debates whether "Blue" refers to the Joni Mitchell album or the Eiffel 65 song.

The details
Herd Mentality Moosic and Moovies puts your ability to predict the group to the test. Every round starts with a question about music or movies—something like "Name a song with a color in the title" or "Name a movie set in space." You write down your answer, then everyone reveals simultaneously. Match the majority and you earn a point. Stand alone with a unique answer and you get nothing.
The twist: whoever holds the Pink Cow at the end loses, and you get stuck with it whenever you're the only person to give a particular answer. So you're trying to think like everyone else, not trying to be clever or original.
Questions are broad enough that there's no single right answer, which means you're constantly weighing whether to play it safe with an obvious choice or risk something slightly less common that might still pull the crowd. The game moves quickly because there's no turn-taking—everyone answers at once, so rounds take seconds rather than minutes.
Works best with groups of four or more. Smaller counts can play, but the dynamic of guessing the majority weakens when there are only two or three voices in the mix. Setup takes about a minute: shuffle the question cards, hand out answer boards, and you're ready.
The Moosic and Moovies edition focuses the questions entirely on music and movies, replacing the general pop-culture spread of the original Herd Mentality. If your group has strong opinions about film and music, this version gives you more material to debate after each reveal. If someone in the group has zero interest in those topics, the narrower focus will leave them guessing blind.

Questions
- How many players does this need to work well?
- Four or more is ideal. With fewer, the majority dynamic weakens because there aren't enough voices to form a real crowd. Larger groups make it more unpredictable and more fun.
- Do you need to know a lot about music and movies?
- Not trivia-level knowledge, but familiarity helps. Questions are broad—like naming a band with a number in the name—so most people can answer, but you're guessing what the group will say, not what's technically correct.
- How long does a typical game last?
- Usually fifteen to twenty minutes, depending on how much the group debates each answer. Rounds are quick because everyone plays at once.
- Can you play this with the original Herd Mentality?
- The cards are compatible if you want to mix them, but this edition is sold as a standalone game. You don't need the original to play.
