Why it's on GiftsFeed
MagnaCut steel folding knife with minimalist design and locking blade
Most folding knives either pile on features until they're bulky or strip down so far they feel flimsy. This one commits to a middle path: twelve parts, machined steel construction, and a blade material that actually stays sharp through hard use. MagnaCut steel is tougher and more stain-resistant than the usual high-carbon options, which matters when you're opening packages one day and cutting rope in the rain the next. The bit-driver bead is the detail that tips it—most lanyards are decorative, but this one turns into a handle for whatever bit you carry, so the knife becomes more useful without becoming heavier.
Good gift when
- People who carry a knife daily and want something that disappears in a pocket
- Anyone who values edge retention and low maintenance
- Users who prefer clean lines over tactical styling
Skip it if If you need a serrated edge or a longer blade for heavy cutting tasks, this isn't built for that work.

The details
This folding knife reduces the design to twelve components total. The drop-point blade uses MagnaCut steel with a hollow saber grind that continues into the handle's contoured shape. The Delta Lock is a patent-pending mechanism that secures the blade when open and releases it with a straightforward motion.
The handles are machined from 416 stainless steel, cored internally to balance the weight at 3.7 ounces. Denim and Alpine versions have a Cerakote finish applied over the steel; the Stainless Steel version leaves the metal exposed. The square-wire pocket clip sits deep for a low profile and reverses for left or right-hand carry.
A lanyard comes attached with a bit-driver bead at the end. That bead accepts Leatherman flat bits or any standard quarter-inch hex bit. Two Torx bits are included: a #8 for the pocket clip screw and a #6 for the thumb stud screw, so you can adjust or maintain the knife without hunting for tools.
The blade opens with a thumb stud and locks firmly when deployed. The faceted handle profile gives you a secure grip without adding texture or aggressive jimping. At roughly the weight of a deck of cards, it sits in a pocket without announcing itself. Made in the USA.

Questions
- What makes MagnaCut steel different from other blade steels?
- MagnaCut is a newer steel alloy engineered for both toughness and corrosion resistance. It holds an edge longer than many stainless options while being less prone to chipping than high-carbon steels. It does require proper sharpening technique when the time comes, but it won't rust if you forget to dry it after a wet day.
- How does the Delta Lock work?
- The Delta Lock is a patent-pending mechanism that secures the blade when it's open. You release it with a deliberate motion, so it won't close accidentally during use but doesn't require excessive force or awkward hand positions to unlock.
- Can I use any quarter-inch hex bit with the lanyard bead?
- Yes. The bit-driver bead accepts Leatherman's own flat bits as well as any standard quarter-inch hex bit, so you can load it with whatever driver you need for a task and use the knife handle as a makeshift screwdriver.
- Is the pocket clip removable?
- Yes. The clip is held by a screw, and one of the included Torx bits fits that screw. You can remove it entirely or reverse it for left- or right-hand carry depending on which pocket you prefer.
- What's the difference between the Stainless Steel and Cerakote versions?
- The Stainless Steel version has exposed machined metal handles. The Denim and Alpine versions have the same stainless steel construction underneath but add a Cerakote finish on top for extra scratch and wear resistance. All three have the same blade and mechanism.
