Their alpaca knitwear is produced at a Peruvian factory founded in 2003 by a mother and now run by her two daughters. The facility hand-selects baby alpaca fiber—the fine undercoat shed by adult animals—then knits and finishes each garment. The brand reports that all alpaca pieces in their current collection are traceable to the farm where the fiber originated. Cuyana states that their full catalog is made from what they define as sustainable materials.
