BioLite

BioLite designs off-grid energy products and operates as a social enterprise, selling both to outdoor customers and to households in emerging markets without reliable electricity. Founders Alec and Jonathan started the company as a weekend project to build a wood camping stove. They now make solar lighting systems, power stations, stoves that generate electricity from fire, and related gear.

The company holds Climate Neutral Certification and measures its annual carbon footprint. Their HomeStove, which reduces emissions from traditional cooking fires, has been issued carbon credits for its performance. In 2023 they reached 8.1 million off-grid customers in Africa with their products. They work through more than 700 partners globally and contribute to disaster relief efforts. BioLite is also a certified B Corporation.
