Appointed began with founder Suann's search for the right American-made notebook. A Kickstarter campaign brought that design to life, and the company has spent a decade building a line of paper goods around the same domestic manufacturing approach.
They produce notebooks, planners, and calendars at a facility in New York state, where they relocated from Washington, D.C. to expand capacity. The paper is made with renewable energy sources including on-site biomass and hydroelectric power, and is both acid-free and chlorine-free. Their water-resistant cotton bookcloth is also made domestically and meets EPA standards. Packaging uses curbside-recyclable and biodegradable materials rather than bubble wrap or single-use plastic.
